Vision
Few places on Earth generate the drive and dynamism of the MIT campus. This fall, visit the epicenter of what’s next at a new festival of science, technology and human understanding.
MIT Future Fest unlocks labs, workshops and theaters across campus for five days of in-person experiences, exhibitions, tours, performances and unexpected connections, pulling renowned researchers and curious first-timers alike into the shared thrill of discovery and action.
The festival foregrounds creative leaders in critical fields, from quantum and AI to climate, health and life sciences, united in their dedication to shaping our shared horizon.
Led by the MIT Museum, along with collaborators MIT Technology Review and Morningside Academy for Design, MIT Future Fest is built on a powerful belief: the future isn’t a single destination. Instead, it’s a vast tide of possibilities best navigated by thinking and doing together.

Move. Think. Discover. Play.
Every day of Future Fest is shaped by four modes of engagement. Move invites you to start in the body — with morning walks, embodied practices, and site-specific experiences that connect you to the MIT campus and to each other. Think brings together the conversations, panels and interviews where urgent questions meet thought-leaders from MIT and beyond. Discover opens the doors to Future Labs, workshops, and immersive installations — hands-on encounters with the research and ideas that are actively shaping what comes next. And Play is where the festival comes alive after dark: performances, salons, concerts, and late-night experiences that take the day’s thinking somewhere unexpected.
Day 1 / Futures in Motion
Future Fest opens with a keynote gathering of MIT visionaries and international headliners, setting the tone for five days of building the future together. As evening falls, the MIT Museum launches its new thematic season with the opening of Sensing Oceans — an immersive exhibition exploring how tools, bodies, and media co-evolve to render the unseeable ocean environment visible. A night of discovery, encounter, and unexpected connection.
Day 2 / Systems in Flux
The day begins in the body — with sunrise movement and guided walks across campus — before expanding into critical conversations on the structures that maintain and propel our world. Climate scientists, health researchers, and AI thinkers converge in panels and workshops exploring how our planet’s systems are changing and what it will take to act. Future Labs open their doors for hands-on encounters with cutting-edge research, and the afternoon deepens with workshops in coastal resilience and ocean worldbuilding. The evening turns to performance, salon, and speculative storytelling — artists and thinkers asking what it means to live in a world already in motion.
Day 3 / Frontiers in Focus
Quantum scientists, AI researchers, and manufacturing innovators converge for a day at the frontiers of the possible. Future Labs run across campus offering rare access to the material research, while hands-on experimentation runs alongside big-picture conversations on artificial intelligence, governance, and the future of making. The evening builds to a science salon and a special performance combining cinema, music, and Afrofuturism.
Day 4 / Human Futures Unfolding
The festival’s penultimate day opens with the landmark public debut of the MET Warehouse — MIT’s stunning new home for design and architecture. Across campus, the day moves through questions that feel urgent and personal: the future of learning, of work, of space, of what it means to be human in an age of AI. Students, founders, and makers fill the festival with energy and invention, while the afternoon closes with a conversation on the future of our coastlines and the materials we build with. The evening comes to life with music and a ground-breaking theatrical premiere.
Day 5 / Futures Made Together
Cambridge Science Carnival returns to the Kendall/MIT Open Space, welcoming over 20,000 visitors of all ages to more than 100 hands-on STEAM experiences — from the beloved Robot Petting Zoo to the Oceans zone featuring some of the world’s leading marine science institutions. A joyful celebration of curiosity and creativity, and the perfect finale to MIT Future Fest’s inaugural edition.
